And also won more. Goal difference is the best way to do it. It rewards teams that generally don't sit back on slender leads and if the mancs do win the title on gd then they deserve it for scoring the most goals and conceding the least.
Us and Arsenal in 88-89 went right to the last game and we had same gd plus 37 after 38 games but because they had scored 8 more goals than us that was the deciding factor.
