It's just entertainment. If you find it offensive, you're missing the point. He's literally a professional wind-up merchant, and I find it entertaining even when he's talking complete shite (which he often is).
And it's not as if he's alone as a pundit who had a mediocre career. See Sky Sports. Moreover, quite a few journeymen have become good pundits. See Michael Robinson in Spain; he's widely respected there, and deservedly so.
The point of a pundit is to say something. And if all you have to offer is a ragbag of banalities, great former player though you may have been, just keep your mouth shut.
