I've been a steward myself. The huge majority of stewards are good reds who seriously couldnt give a shit if you stood, sang or done the macarena as long as it was done safely.
9/10 its not the stewards who are the problem, but the head stewards who are instructed by matchday control over what areas to control. These people can zoom in on their cctv on any specific cm2 of the ground they want to focus on. If they see someone standing then it gets reported to the head steward who passes it on to the crowd steward to deal with.
You do get jobsworths, but 90% of the lads who work there are decent reds who understand what its like to be a supporter.
