Re: The Old Firm
Religion doesn't come into football. Blaming religion on the Celtic & Rangers rivalry and Northern Ireland is like quoting the idiots guide to understanding rivalry.
Celtic and Rangers hate each other because they are both based in Glasgow. If they were all catholic or all prodestant that wouldn't change. They would still be rivals.
And even at that, None of its to-do with religion. It just happens to be cut 50-50 by religion. Thats the fault of the plantation of English protestants in Celtic catholic countries. EG, in scotland and northern ireland.
And the Catholic ancesters even today want to be independant from Britain. Eg Celtic fans, and the prodestant plantation ancesters want to honour their history and remain part of Britian. Eg Rangers fans.
Which is why you will see Union Jacks in the rangers end and scottish flags in the Celtic. Its about soverignerity, not arguing over if mary got porked by Joseph or god.
