A considered, broader view.....

I think the problem has more to do with individuals and their level of maturity (or lack of it) rather than the fact that they follow a particular team or not.

As Rudyard Kipling said "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same - you will be a man my son..." And therein lies the problem - trouble flares when people experience defeat or miss out on a victory and just can't handle it.

Partisanship then leads to prejudice, which in turn precludes the fair evaluation of facts. It also leads to self-righteousness and intolerance.

The problem is not with deeply held convictions, it’s that too many people often think that the more intensely they believe something, the more likely it is that they’re right.

This leads to ranting and name-calling by both Red & Blue which actually does a disservice to both of our clubs.

There are no winners in all of this.

(Don't know what the answer is by the way!!)
