Staveley is leaking info but Hicks before hand has been brash and shooting his mouth off about how Gillett can do nothing with him and that DIC will not buy him out.

If Hicks has no say in what Gillette does with his shares DIC wouldn't have gone for the 49% idea (although we were led to believe that they were never going to accept a minority share and would definetly/imminently/within a matter of days buy the club outright) and would be well on the way to 50% already.
It's usually not the best idea to fuck around the person you're trying to get to agree to a sale and piss him off by shouting your mouth about how you'll force him out once you get the 49%.
Perhaps she missed the memo that said that speech is for after he's agreed.
