I'm certain something is going down, but I would have thought it all depends on Hicks. Is he willing to sell? Is his price realistic? Will he stay involved in some capacity?
As for the various rift combinations between owners/ new owners/ manager/ new manager/ players then it will all be sorted out once things at the top are sorted.
Right now there are likely vested interests being protected and the manifestation of that is in the rifts that have developed. Once things are right at the top then everything else will come into line.
There will of course be casualties, but that's to be expected with any change of regime.
My suspicion for part of the problem is that the Torres/Mascherano axis is much more behind Benitez than the Gerrard/Carra axis. This is not insurmountable though, and once things at the top are right, I expect everything to fall in line in time for next season.
We can but hope we get fourth, and based on last night's evidence, we might even win no.6, though that's too early to say.
